Land & Sea
Land & Sea speaks to the identity of the people in the Ciabao Region (the northern region) of the Dominican Republic. These photographs depict contrasting realities from the inside, as well as the outside of this island nation. The Black and white renderings of the nautical images are meant to protest the faux romantic depictions of life on the exterior of the island, while the muted toned images are meant to provoke discussion about these juxtaposing paradigms.
